Apartment and high-rise moves live or die on logistics — the loading dock, the freight elevator, the building’s insurance paperwork — so Duke Moving Co handles all of it before the truck arrives.

Elevator and COI, sorted

Most Uptown towers and South End mid-rises want a reserved freight elevator and a certificate of insurance on file before move day. We prepare the COI for your building and confirm the elevator hold, so no one turns the crew away at the dock.

  • Certificate of insurance filed for your building
  • Freight elevator or loading dock reserved
  • Floors, elevator pads and corners protected
  • Narrow-hall and walk-up carries planned ahead
  • One flat written rate — no per-floor charge

High-rise vs. walk-up

Different buildings, different game plan. Here is how we approach the two.

Building type How we handle it
Uptown high-rise Reserve freight elevator, file COI, time the dock
South End mid-rise Elevator hold and protected shared halls
NoDa or Plaza Midwood walk-up Stair plan, extra padding, tight-turn crew
Suburban garden unit Curbside park, direct carry, gate access

Move day, minus the stress

We confirm access the day before, arrive early to beat the heat, and keep the elevator flowing so you are not blocking neighbors — and we break down the empty boxes and haul them out when we are done. Moving into a house instead? See residential moving, or get a flat quote for your building.

Send your building’s move rules early. COI wording and elevator hours vary by tower — the sooner we have them, the smoother the dock runs.

Good questions

Charlotte moving questions, answered

Can you provide a certificate of insurance for my building?

Yes. Send your building's COI requirements when you book and we prepare the certificate naming your property manager, so management clears the crew before move day.

Do you reserve the freight elevator?

We confirm the elevator hold and dock window with your building's management. Reserving a block keeps your move on schedule and keeps you from tying up the elevator for neighbors.

Is there an extra charge for a high floor or lots of stairs?

No per-floor or stair fee. Elevator reservations and stair carries are factored into your flat written rate when we quote, so the number holds on the day.

What if my building only allows moves at certain hours?

Common in Uptown and South End. Tell us the allowed window and dispatch schedules the crew to load and finish inside it.

Do you move studio and one-bedroom apartments?

Every size, from a NoDa studio to a three-bedroom condo. A smaller load simply means a right-sized crew and truck for a faster day.

Why Charlotte books us

Why choose Duke Moving Co?

Same crew, same trucks, same written price from the first call to the last box off the truck.

Flat, Written Pricing

The number we quote is the number you pay. No hourly creep, no fuel line, no surprise total once the ramp is down.

Our Own Crews

The movers who show up are on our payroll and in our uniforms — never day labor, never a broker who hands your job to a stranger.

Licensed & Insured

A registered North Carolina household-goods mover with full cargo coverage on every load, and a certificate of insurance whenever a building asks.

We Know This City

Uptown high-rise loading windows, Dilworth’s tight historic streets, Ballantyne HOA rules — planned before move day, not sorted out on your driveway.

We Answer, and We Show Up

Someone real picks up the phone, and the crew arrives in the window we gave you. If plans change, you reschedule with no penalty.

Handled with care

How we protect what’s yours

Wrapped, not rushed

Furniture gets blankets and shrink wrap before it ever leaves the room — no bare edges riding on the truck.

Floors and doorways covered

Runners go down and door jambs get padded, so nothing gets scuffed on the way out or in.

Taken apart, put back together

Beds, tables, and cribs come apart and go back together at the other end — you never touch a tool.

Cartons for the fragile stuff

TVs, mirrors, glass, and art travel in proper boxes with corner protection, not wedged between couches.

The right gear on every job

Dollies, straps, and ramps do the heavy lifting, so the big pieces move safely — not on someone’s back.

One crew, start to finish

The same uniformed team loads and unloads. Your things are never handed off to a stranger or a subcontractor.

Great all-around experience! Highly recommend these guys. We had a local move and they were prompt and hard working. Very professional in keeping on task and offering extra help with items.

The owner spoke to me on a Sunday afternoon and he worked us into his schedule the following day. We needed some heavy furniture moved to our bonus room. Highly recommend!
